The Nobel Prize winner Ernest Hemingway visited Pamplona and took part in its San Fermin celebrations no less than nine times, and these visits were the inspiration for his first novel, "The Sun Also Rises", contributing to the city¿s popularity all over the world.

What to see?
Pamplona's San Fermin festivities are world-famous. They begin on July 6 with a rocket set off to mark the start of the celebrations at 12 midday on the balcony of the Town Hall, and for 9 days Pamplona becomes one great party.
Other important festive celebrations held in the southern part of Navarre province, which is given the general name of La Ribera, are those of Santa Ana de Tudela, held from 24 to 30 July.
The Friday before the last Sunday in August, the festivities held in the village of Estella in honour of San Andrés and Our Lady of Puy begin. The processions are accompanied by the Town Council dignitaries and other authorities.
The Festivity of Our Lady of Angustias is held in Lodosa on the third Saturday in September. The varied events include a floral offering to Our Lady's image at the doors of the church,which has taken place in the village since at least 1860.
